If you have been married before, bring certified documentation. A final divorce decree, annulment order, or death certificate is required. The court must confirm that any previous marriage is fully resolved.
Georgia eliminated the blood test requirement in 2003. There is no waiting period. The license is issued on the spot. It does not expire. If at least one of you is a Georgia resident, you can apply in any county. Non-residents must get the license in the county where the ceremony happens.
You must be at least 18 years old to get a marriage license. A 17-year-old may apply with emancipation documentation. The other party must not be more than four years older. Both must have completed premarital education. No one under 17 is eligible.
