The South Service Center is cashless. Bring a credit or debit card. No American Express is accepted at any Fulton County location. East Point residents can also use the main office at 136 Pryor Street SW in downtown Atlanta, which takes both appointments and walk-ins. A 4.5% convenience fee applies to card payments at all locations.
Marriage License Requirements for East Point
Both people must appear in person. You cannot send a friend or family member in your place. Each applicant needs to be at least 18 years old. A 17-year-old may apply only with proof of legal emancipation. No one under 17 can get a marriage license in Georgia.
Bring one of these valid IDs to the Fulton County Probate Court:
- State-issued driver's license or ID card
- Original or certified birth certificate (English translation if needed)
- Valid U.S. passport
- Valid military ID
Previously married? Bring a certified copy of the final divorce decree, annulment, or death certificate. The court will not issue a new license until they see this proof. Blood tests have not been required in Georgia since July 1, 2003.
Georgia residents can apply at any county probate court in the state. If neither person is a Georgia resident, you must get the license in the county where the ceremony will take place. The Fulton County marriage license does not expire and is valid right away once issued.
East Point Marriage License Fees
Fulton County charges $68.50 for a standard marriage license. This is higher than most counties in Georgia. The fee includes one certified copy of the marriage certificate. That copy gets mailed to you after the license is recorded.
Couples who complete a premarital education course pay just $28.50. The program must last at least six hours and be completed within 12 months of applying. A licensed counselor, therapist, or clergy member must lead the course. Bring your completion certificate when you visit the office. This saves East Point couples $40 on their marriage license fee.
Additional certified copies cost $10 each. You can order them when you apply or later through the Records Division. Send requests to 136 Pryor Street SW, 2nd Floor C230, Atlanta, GA 30303, with a money order and self-addressed stamped envelope. All fees are non-refundable.
After Your East Point Wedding
The officiant signs the marriage license once the ceremony is done. Return the signed license to the Fulton County Probate Court within 30 days. You can mail it to 136 SW Pryor Street, 2nd Floor C230, Atlanta, GA 30303, or drop it off in person at any Fulton County location.
Recording takes up to 30 days. Your marriage certificate will arrive by mail after that. If 45 days pass with no certificate, contact the court at Probate.Licenses@fultoncountyga.gov. For name changes, you will need the marriage certificate plus visits to the Social Security office and Georgia Department of Driver Services.
