Marriage License Requirements

The minimum age to marry in Georgia is 18. A 17-year-old may apply with proof of emancipation, but the other party cannot be more than four years older. No one under 17 can obtain a marriage license in the state.

A standard license costs $56. With a premarital education certificate, the fee is $16. The education program must include at least six hours of instruction and be completed within 12 months of your application. Both applicants take the program together.
