LaGrange Marriage License Requirements

Both people must come to the Troup County Probate Court together. No one else can apply for you. Each person has to be at least 18. A 17-year-old may apply only with proof of legal emancipation. Georgia law does not allow anyone under 17 to get a marriage license.

Bring one of these valid IDs:

If you were married before, the court will need a certified copy of the final divorce decree, annulment order, or death certificate. They will not issue a new license without this proof. Georgia stopped requiring blood tests on July 1, 2003. No medical exam is needed.

Any Georgia resident can apply at any county probate court in the state. If neither person is a Georgia resident, the ceremony must happen in Troup County. There is no waiting period. The license is valid right away and does not expire under Georgia law.
